Where we’ve been…

A quick synopsis is that we currently live and minister in Madison WI and the surrounding area. We work with the campus ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. For information on supporting our ministry financially please go to the Support This Ministry page (a very catchy and original page name…)
Now here’s a bit more detail.

PAST:

In 2003 we followed Gods leading to Mexico. We had many expectations and even more questions as we loaded up our Dodge Caravan and took the long journey from Wisconsin to Puebla. In these 4 years, God has blessed us with many opportunities to talk to people about Him, to help young believers grow in their faith, and train fellow laborers as they have followed Gods call into a life of ministry. On top of that God blessed us with great friends, four years to grow together as a couple, and many unforgettable experiences.

TRANSITION:

We found ourselves following God’s leading once again, but this time back to Wisconsin.  DeAnn’s health was the catalyst for this decision as we tried doctor after doctor and treatment after treatment here in Mexico with no result. We asked God for healing for DeAnn if it were His desire for us to continue to serve in Mexico. During our time of waiting for His answer, God was also working on our hearts and showing us more clearly how He had created us and what our passions in ministry were. As we began to contemplate this move it was very bitter-sweet, but what at first seemed like a gentle nudge to return to the states  increasingly felt as if God’s hand were centered in our backs and pushing us along this path. We definitely miss the ministry in Mexico and the friends we made here (not to mention the best tacos you’ll ever eat right down the street from our house!)

PRESENT:

Currently we are ministering full-time with Campus Crusade for Christ on the UW-Madison campus and in the surrounding area (including UW-Whitewater and UW-Plateville along with many other smaller universities, community colleges, and technical schools.) The student population of this area is around 100,000 students. It is an amazing ministry to be a part of.  We are involved with sharing Jesus with students that do not know Him yet, leading Bible studies and weekly meetings, and planning retreats and spring break and summer project mission trips among other things.  Currently the movement at Madison has around 450 students actively involved.  You can check out the website here:  UWSI.org The other movement we are most involved with is the movement at UW-Platteville.  It is currently in its second year but with a strong core group of students.  You can see more about the UWP movement here:  http://www.uwplatt.edu/org/ccc/index.html

One of the most exciting things that has happened to us in ministry, aside from seeing people come to know Christ, is seeing people respond to the call and become laborers in the harvest field. During the last year we were in Puebla Mexico, we saw four students from Puebla apply to do one-year internships with Crusade with an eye for full-time in the future. Praise God with us for these students. We believe they will eventually be much more effective than we ever would be at reaching Mexican college students for Christ.

The point of sharing this is that we believe that God has us in the States in order to be involved in raising up laborers from among college students here to go to the world.

That is a little about where we’ve been and where we are now.
