Up North!
Monday, June 1st, 2009Recently DeAnn, baby Elijah, and I got to spend a little time up in the northwoods of WI. We got to see some friends (not nearly as many as we would have liked however…next time!) and got to spend time with family. Although I think the grandparents liked the fact that Elijah was there more than the fact that DeAnn and I were there!
I did get a chance to speak at Immanuel Baptist while up there and they have the sermon posted for your listening pleasure! Here’s the link: Acts 1:8 etc. (or you can go here: downloads and click on either MP3 or WMA next to my name!)
Flee the Christian Subculture
Friday, May 1st, 2009“Flee the Christian subculture.”
That line definitely caught my attention! Ask yourself these questions…”Do I really have friends that don’t know Jesus yet? Do I really have any significant relationships outside of my Christian circle?” Statistically the answer to those questions for most Christians is “no.”
Here’s a great article on some practical steps you can take to make your life have in impact in the lives of people who don’t know Jesus yet. Ways to be Missional
The basics are the following:
- Eat with Non-Christians.
- Walk, Don’t Drive.
- Be a Regular.
- Hobby with Non-Christians.
- Talk to Your Co-workers.
- Volunteer with Non-Profits.
- Participate in City Events.
- Serve your Neighbors.
These are things we can do in our daily lives…it isn’t what to add to your schedule but how to live out your schedule.

Penn’s Thoughts
Tuesday, April 7th, 2009A video clip from Penn (part of Penn and Teller.) He is an atheist comedian who I really don’t watch. But I’ve seen him on TV and then I saw this clip. It’s very thought-provoking.
One line: “How much do you have to hate somebody to believe that everlasting life is possible and not tell them that?” Video
